Allentown Anglophile
Bleu Grass
Bleu Grass was a late '60s Allentown group who met at Illick's Mill. Influenced by the under-rated first Mandrake Memorial album, they won the Allentown JCC Battle of the Bands, resulting in a trip to ABE recording studio and a limited edition 45. The band consisted of John Fretz (bass), Barry Blinderman (vocals), Rob Freeman (RMI rocksichord, backing vocals), Bruce Sheftel (drums) and Gregg Smith (guitar). Gregg's younger brother, Mark Smith, founded the Creatures Of The Golden Dawn, who still perform music to this day.
